D:Ream Announced as Silsden Town Hall's Headline Act for 2025
Silsden Town Hall is proud to announce its headline act for 2025, "Things Can Only Get Better" performers, D:Ream. 90's sensation D:Ream exploded onto the dance scene over 30 years ago with the iconic "U R the Best Thing," quickly followed by the globally recognised anthem for change "Things Can Only Get Better". With MTV and BRIT Award nominations, and a string of top 40 hits including "Shoot Me With Your Love", the band cemented their legacy in British dance music. Now, fresh from their Glastonbury performance with former band member Brian Cox, D:Ream are celebrating their 30th anniversary with a dynamic live show of their greatest hits. Expect all the classic anthems, and updated remixes of their biggest tracks, plus new material. D:Ream's enduring and infectious energy continues to captivate audiences. Peter Cunnah and Al Mackenzie, AKA D:Ream, are an Irish/English pop group who rose to fame during the 90s. They first came to prominence with the single ‘U R the Best Thing’ in the summer of 1992. ‘Things Can Only Get Better’ followed and gave the group their first chart success and international fame. After they supported Take That on their tour, the track topped the UK Singles Chart in early 1994, and was adopted by the Labour Party as their theme for the 1997 General Election; rolling in at No. 19 in the UK charts. The band were also nominated for Best Dance act in the MTV Europe music awards in 1994 and for Best Single in the Brit Awards in 1995. Between 1992 and 1997, the band released two studio albums, ten different singles and an official greatest hits. - New State Music About Silsden Town Hall Silsden Town Hall is a vibrant community hub and concert venue, offering a variety of entertainment shows, activities, and classes throughout the year. Over the past two years, we've established ourselves as a leading rural arts venue, welcoming performers including The Three Degrees, Mick Miller, Paper Lace, Edison Lighthouse, Billy Pearce, Mark Simmons, Dervish, The Noise Next Door, Henry Blofeld, Daliso Chaponda, Kiki Dee, Paul Foot, D:Ream, Black Lace, Dr. and the Medics and Amy Garcia - all in less than 24 months. We've welcomed local brass bands and emerging talents, partied with some of the country's top tribute artists and hosted indoor garden parties. We've also reintroduced touring theatre, ballroom dancing and cinema to Silsden for the first time in decades. This September, Amy Garcia is visiting Silsden to help us continue that work, with a fundraising event for Silsden Town Hall.

Edinburgh Comedy Awards 2023 – Best Show Co-Winner Chortle Awards 2024 – Best Show Nominee NextUp Biggest Award In Comedy 2023 – Nominee “Funnier and more daring than I’ve ever seen him… Paul has the audience laughing so hard they’re about to leave their bodies.” - ★★★★★ Chortle Following two sold-out Edinburgh Fringe runs and a twice-extended UK and Ireland tour, multi-award-winning and trail-blazing comedian, Paul Foot, brings his critically acclaimed Dissolve - his most personal, surprising and ground-breaking show ever - to Silsden. Life is a stress: full of rushed breakfasts, angry people, internal conflict, and Jacob Rees-Mogg. But what happens when everything you thought was important – your problems, grievances against others, your very identity – simply disappears? In the year 2022 AD, something momentous changed for Paul, and in this show, he will reveal how he discovered the secret of life on the outskirts of Lancaster. Inevitably, he does get distracted by King Tutankhamun, the House of Lords, Sir Cliff Richard, officious lollipop ladies and what Jesus might have achieved if he’d been a plumber. ℹ️ This show is strictly for those over the age of 18. Mark Simmons and Friends Sunday 08th June at Silsden Town Hall Winner of Dave’s Best Joke of the Fringe 2024, Mark Simmons presents a brand new work-in-progress show as he gears up for his latest tour. You’ve seen him on Mock The Week, BT Sport, and ITV, but now Mark is bringing his trademark wit to the stage with fresh material, alongside three comedians handpicked by Mark. Known for his brilliantly crafted jokes and impeccable timing, Mark has earned a reputation as the “master of the crisp, clean, one-line zinger” (Evening Standard). Whether he's riffing on everyday absurdities or delivering expertly constructed punchlines, you can expect a show packed with laughs and plenty of surprises. Mark was a semi-regular on BBC2’s Mock The Week, joining Dara O’Briain and Hugh Dennis. His last show, Quip Off The Mark, has toured over 200 venues, selling more than 20,000 tickets. He’s also a familiar face on BT Sport’s DIY Pundit and The Football’s On. Outside of stand-up, Mark is making waves with his hit podcast Jokes With Mark Simmons, where he chats with fellow comedians like Gary Delaney, Sarah Millican, and Milton Jones about the jokes that didn’t quite make the cut. Don't miss this chance to see one of the sharpest joke-tellers in the business as he road-tests new material ahead of his next tour! ℹ️ This show is strictly for those over the age of 18. Howard Walker's Comedy Club Saturday 13th September at Silsden Town Hall ★ Free for Show Club Members Howard welcomes three more top comedians to the stage this September for the return of his hugely popular comedy club at Silsden Town Hall. Previous guests have included Nina Gilligan, Steve Royle and Jack Gleadow, among others. We'll be revealing who's performing alongside Howard in the coming weeks. As ever, you'll be in for a treat. ℹ️ This show is recommended for those who like to experience a variety of acts. You may like this show if you enjoy watching Live at the Apollo or Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow. This show is strictly for those over the age of 18. Hal Cruttenden: Can Dish It Out But Can't Take It Saturday 27th September at Silsden Town Hall "Reminded me of how much I love stand up" - ★★★★ The Times "Go and see Hal Cruttenden, he’s got something to say and he’ll make you laugh; a lot" - ★★★★★ Daily Mirror "Naturally funny…challenging and provocative" - ★★★★ Daily Telegraph Hal is back with a brand-new tour for 2025 with a show that promises to stick it to ‘The Man’, as long as ‘The Man’ doesn’t stick it back to him. With his trademark hard-hitting ‘take no prisoners’ comedy he will be hilariously pontificating on subjects like middle-aged dating, social media, the insanity of modern politics and the fact that his daughters love him but don’t respect him. He believes that, after you’ve seen the show, you’ll feel exactly the same way. Hal's last tour was extended four times, and he’s one of a select number of comics to have appeared on Live At The Apollo three times and the Royal Variety twice. Previous television appearances include Have I Got News For You, The Apprentice: You’re Fired, Bake Off: Extra Slice, and Would I Lie To You. ℹ️ This show is strictly for those over the age of 18.
